Ms. Beekman joined the Institute for Human Services (IHS) in 2000. She has conducted research in neglect, alternative response and other protective services issues for the North American Resource Center for Child Welfare's (NARCCW), Center for Child Welfare Policy; and contributed to the Advisor newsletter of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC).
Utilizing her previous experience as a former Regional Training Director, Direct Services Supervisor and County Social Services Administrator, Ms. Beekman provides consultation and training to jurisdictions implementing competency-based inservice training systems (CCBITS) for child welfare, adult protective services and public assistance staff. She co-managed development of the first statewide CCBITS training program for public assistance staff. In addition to developing competencies for adult services and public assistance job categories, she co-authored the Core Curriculum for Public Assistance; promotes integration of child welfare and public assistance training systems; and evaluates county human service programs and practices.
For the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program (OCWTP), Ms. Beekman has the managed the development, review and revision of resource products. She specializes in competency development and training needs assessment; and is a principal author of the OCWTP Core Curriculum for Child Welfare Supervisors and Managers. Ms. Beekman has enhanced her B.S. Social Work degree with extensive post-graduate coursework in Social Services Administration and Public Administration.
