As a consultant for the North American Resource Center for Child Welfare (NARCCW), Ms. Hawkins assists jurisdictions in implementing Comprehensive, Competency-Based Inservice Training Systems (CCBITS).
Ms. Hawkins is also a training manager for the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program (OCWTP). In this capacity, she provides technical assistance to Ohio’s eight Regional Training Centers, oversees developmental projects, develops resources, and mentors trainers. She also coordinates OCWTP activities with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), the Public Children’s Services Association of Ohio (PCSAO) and statewide county public children service agencies.
Ms. Hawkins has over 37 years of direct child welfare experience, supervision and management. Prior to joining the Institute for Human Services (IHS) in 2009, she was the Director of Professional Development for Franklin County Children Services and its Central Ohio Regional Training Center, where she directed caseworker and caregiver training and developed policies and procedures to ensure compliance with child welfare legislation.
Ms. Hawkins has worked with ODJFS personnel on state level initiatives including differential response and the Council for Accreditation. She holds an Master in Social Work degree from The Ohio State University (OSU), where she was former President of the OSU College of Social Work Alumni Society and a Field Instructor for the OSU College of Social Work.
