Dr. Ahmadi works with the North American Resource Center for Child Welfare (NARCCW) to support cross-cultural components of NARCCW products and to prepare staff for international training and consultation.
In her work with the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program (OCWTP), Dr. Ahmadi develops culturally competent training for caseworkers and foster caregivers, and reviews integration of cultural issues and evidence-based practice in curricula and resource development. She also consults with in-house and Regional Training Center staff on immigration issues; and is the OCWTP liaison to Bridging Refugee Youth and Children’s Services (BRYCS), a statewide organization supporting refugee and immigrant families.
Dr. Ahmadi came to the Institute for Human Services (IHS) in 2008 with over 25 years of international experience developing curriculum to promote cross-cultural relations and language competence. From 1998-2001 she was Director of Spanish for the Professions at the Ohio State University, implementing a series of courses in applying Spanish in business culture and communication for undergraduates, MBA and medical students. She is experienced in group facilitation and cross-cultural coaching to help professionals bridge linguistic and cultural gaps while on international assignment.
Dr. Ahmadi holds a Ph.D. in Foreign Language and Culture Education from The Ohio State University.
